Making a mess song for kids — "Sorry Mommy (I Made a Mess)" cover art by Snuggle Bunch

Sorry Mommy (I Made a Mess)

About This Song

Every parent knows the scene: you just tidied up, turned around for one second, and your toddler has redecorated the entire room with blocks, trains, and dinosaurs. “Sorry Mommy (I Made a Mess)” captures that moment perfectly, the parenting experience told from the kid’s point of view. My three year old actually said “I’m sorry mommy, I made a mess” and I knew there was a song there!

This playful family hip hop track from Snuggle Bunch turns the classic parent-child messy standoff into a catchy sing-along. With its catchy wordplay and humor, it’s the kind of song that makes parents laugh and kids feel seen. And sometimes, creativity does looks a lot like chaos!

Mommy, I made a mess
I know it isn’t the best
But this room was too clean and it made me stressed
And to this, I can attest
When I see all my things spread out over the floor
I adore this little room even more and more

I’m sorry Mommy, I made a mess
I’ve got to get this off my chest
And when I see all my things spread out on the floor
I adore this room even more and more

This room was looking tidy
Too nice, too tight
It’s my plight that this room doesn’t sit alright
But now I’ve decorated, my toy’s been liberated
I’m no longer agitated so now we can play!

I’m sorry Mommy, I made a mess
I’ve got to get this off my chest
And when I see all my things spread out on the floor
I think I like this room even a little more
And more and more

It’s not out of spite, this is my creativity
I have a proclivity for this kind of activity
So everything is out, I’ve arranged the decor
With blocks and trains and dinosaurs
It’s a giant mess, no one could ignore
I don’t think I want to play here anymore

I’m sorry Mommy, I made a mess
I’ve got to get this off my chest
And when I see all my things spread out on the floor
I don’t think I want to play here anymore

(What?)

I’m sorry mommy, I made a mess
I’ve got to get this off my chest
And when I see all my things spread out on the floor
I don’t think I want to play here anymore

  • Time to Take a Nap (Foxy’s Version)

One of our first songs was a lullaby featuring folk singer Mama Goose. After recording, we decided to let Foxy have a shot at recording this a laid-back, melodic spin on one of our first tracks. It hits different when you need something a little softer to wind things down. Featuring an extended outro thats designed to give parents the time to pause the music and sneak out of the room.

  • Pop! Goes the Weasel

This classic nursery rhyme updated for the modern day! Our remix of “Pop! Goes the Weasel” flips the classic melody your kids already love with a brand new story: the monkey didn’t mean any harm, but the weasel wasn’t having fun, and now they’ve got to talk it out! It’s playground conflict resolution set to a beat, and it lands better than any lecture ever could.

  • I’m a Little Teapot!

Your kids already know the words. They’ve been doing the handle-and-spout dance since daycare. So we took “I’m a Little Teapot” and flipped it to a hip hop bop it’s been waiting for. We kept the classic verses and added on our spin about heating up water for mommies and daddies, and how a fresh cup of tea helps us parents! Let’s be real, sometimes a teapot song is for the grown-ups too.

  • Mac and Cheese!

“Mac and Cheese!” is an ode to the one meal that never gets turned down! After time and time again trying to make something nice for my kids for dinner, we’ve come to realize if there’s mac and cheese, it’s gonna be a winner.

  • You’re a Big Man!

An experimental jazz track sampling and remixing an improvised acapella recording, incorporating horns and a live jazzy feel to a lighthearted melody about my son growing up. “You’re a Big Man!” started as a simple voice memo ( a proud dad moment caught on tape ) and evolved into a horn-driven, jazz-flavored celebration of watching your little one hit those big milestones.

  • Squeaky Clean!

Bath time in our house goes one of two ways: absolute refusal to get in, or absolute refusal to get out. Usually both. “Squeaky Clean!” is for that first hurdle — getting everyone into the tub with minimal negotiations. Once the suds are flowing and the rub-a-dub-dub kicks in, even the most reluctant bather starts having a good time. Just please don’t pee! We’re trying to get clean.
